Info For Junior Banger Drivers - Update - Added 28/02/2019

The Junior Banger Association have listened to feedback received from their drivers and families following the statement which was made earlier in the week.
We have noted concerns expressed about the timing of the new ruling coming in to place when drivers have licenced and made their plans for 2019 together with concerns from northern drivers about the lack of racing opportunities provided by JBA tracks in that area.
To address these concerns the JBA are delaying the implementation of the new ruling for 12 months and it will come into place from 1 March 2020. This will allow drivers to continue racing at JBA and none JBA tracks for the rest of this season. When it comes to the end of 2019 drivers can then decide if they wish to licence with a JBA promoter or race at non JBA tracks for 2020. During the remainder of this year the JBA will also be in negotiation with other tracks in the North and Midlands to try and get new circuits for JBA drivers to race on in 2020 and the current promoters in these area will do their best to give the formula more meetings in 2020.
The JBA do though wish to protect the integrity of the formula’s championships. To this end a driver must decide if they wish to race in the JBA Championships or non JBA Championships. If a driver competes in a championship meeting at a non JBA track they will not then be able to race in the JBA championship meetings. If a driver competes in a JBA championship meeting and then subsequently races in a non JBA Championship meeting they will face an ORC ban of up to 12 months. Drivers who compete in a non JBA Championship are still welcome to race on JBA tracks – just not at the championship meetings and it is up to each driver which set of championships they wish to compete at in 2019.
The Junior Banger Association do still firmly believe that it is important to retain control of drivers who race on our tracks to enable discipline, technical, racing rules and health and safety rules to be done in a way which we are happy with. Although we understand some drivers’ frustrations with this it is to ensure we can provide racing in the safest environment for young drivers which is why we will be implementing the rules in the earlier statement from 2020.
The Junior Banger Association would like to wish you all drivers and race teams a successful and enjoyable 2019.
