It’s going to be another busy night at the Yarmouth stadium this Easter Sunday 6.30pm start time with an action packed 4 formula meeting; writes Graham Utting.
Topping the bill, the Rookie Rods are back at the raceway following their superb performance here a fortnight ago when over 30 cars raced so expect about the same again this time as they are competing for their East Anglian championship, leading the charge could well be Darren Terry fresh from taking a hat trick of wins last week at the Wimbledon stadium however the locals will be keen on keeping the title in the east, Carl Mann was probably the most successful last season and had a pretty good meeting here last time out as did Ryan Cannell the only local driver to take a win in the formula.
The Stock Rods are also racing for their East Anglian championship, it’s the first time the formula has raced at the stadium this season but already Stuart Smyth has had an eventful year taking a couple of wins and also ending one race on his roof! Young Charlie Jowers has been in fine form and starting towards the front of the grid could be one to watch.
The drivers of the future will be in action too in the Ministox contesting round 2 of the Norfolk gold cup series, already Ormesbys Bryson Walker looks a strong contender as he together with Norwich’s Daniel Parker and Kyle Picton head the leader board all 3 youngsters coming from strong racing backgrounds so expect plenty of support coming from the terraces!
The National Bangers are also here in good numbers taking to the track in micro cars so expect plenty of Corsas, Fiestas and Nissan Micras all ending their lives here and possibly the odd Metro which can’t be a bad thing! There will be racing for them on both the oval and the east coasts only figure 8 circuits and if that’s not enough for them the night is brought to a close with a demolition derby when the last car moving is the winner.
